The Guardian
I am the Guardian, I stand at my post,
I guard the wayfarer on the treacherous road,
I've been given my duty, and in this I'll prevail,
Though battered and beaten by the forces of hell.
And all the King's horse's and all the King's men,
They could not assemble my body again,
But I've been given my duty, and it's there I'll stand on,
For the love of my country, my King, and my God.
I am the Guardian,
And I champion His love for men,
O, I am the Guardian, of this love.
Though other brave soldiers take pity on me,
And all the fair maidens they stare brazenly,
I am a warrior in my own right,
For His honor I stand, for His honor I fight.
So I wait for the call, for the trump of my King,
Whether stand up and fight, or wait patiently,
For I've been given this post, it is here I stand strong,
For the love of my Country, my King, and my God.
I am the Guardian,
Custodian of His Word to man,
O, I am the Guardian, of this love.
I look forward to run, to feel good earth beneath my feet again,
With a childe's wide eyes, I'll run Elysian fields and reach for the skies.
But now I must stand, deferring myself for the sake of His commands,
He's my King, and my God.
And though I be hated and though I be scorned,
And though I be slowed by these braces I've worn,
My eyes are a focus, my heart is ablaze,
It's my oath and my honor, to serve Him this way.
And if all the Kings horses and all the Kings men,
They never assemble my body again,
Well I have stood at my post, and it's here I'll stand strong,
For the love of my Country, my King, and my God.
And if I be cut off from these walls I defend,
If I'm cut down in battle and my blood runs red,
Well I stood at my post, and there I stood strong,
For the love of my Country, my King, and my God.
I am the Guardian of His love.

Years ago, a member of the Christian rock band "White Heart" was being interviewed on a radio program. This band member was talking about a friend of his. Though the particulars have escaped me, this friend had been bound in braces or maybe a wheelchair, I think for a lifetime. But even though he had little or no use of his limbs, he had related that he had been given his post by the Lord, and he manned that post. He had done his job. He did not allow even a difficult circumstance such as he had to dissuade him from completing his task.
